"Feducci claims that only a duel to the death can make him feel alive. He is often described as an exiled prince of the tomb-colonies, but you've been around him enough to wonder. Where is he really from?"[2]
Feducci is an accomplished duelist, self-proclaimed prince of the Tomb-Colonies, and former Mayor of London.
Surprisingly Vital
He really hails from the Elder Continent and still perform dealings there, exporting relics[3] and importing pieces of the Mountain.[4] He may shun this backstory because it may compromise his cover. According to another expatriate of the Elder Continent, an inmate in the Grand Sanatorium, both she and Feducci used to work together as agents of the Presbyter. If taken at her word, Feducci is the Presbyter's agent in London.[5] This appears to be confirmed by the Big Rat, who refers to Feducci as the "Presbyter's Dog".[6] Under his bandages, Feducci is a healthy bearded man, not at all a decrepit tomb-colonist[7] that he likes to pretend he is.[8] He may still be performing the Prester's bidding as he regularly makes trips to Wolfstack Docks to deliver information[9] and critters[10] to the Continent and put out bounties on Snuffers.[11] Feducci has ambitions to one day become Prester himself.[12]
For all his bravado, Feducci has known loss. During a failed bet, he was forced to make a perilous trek to Arbor. He was apparent very popular in the Elder continent and had many volunteering to go with him on this journey. One by one, they perished, leaving Feducci to reach the gates of Arbor alone.[13] He stayed there for some time,[14] haunted by survivor’s guilt.[15] Later, he sought out one of the Veteran Privy Counsellor's illegitimate children, seemingly in an attempt to help her—perhaps a rare flicker of compassion.[16]
Feducci is a veteran of Hell's Revolutions; he aided the Devils when they overthrew their princes.[17] This gave him an intimate knowledge of the lands surrounding Hell.[18] IThere are also indications he worked as a slaver on Hell’s ships during the Campaign of '68.[19] He's close friend with Virginia, as [20] they were both heros of the season of revolutions.[21] Probably because of his associations, Feducci harbors little respect for London's churches.[22]
He runs several illegal fighting rings around London[23][24][25] that are training grounds for those who seek to join his elite dueling club, the Black Ribbon.[26] The Black Ribbon used to be more about hunting dangerous creatures.[27] Now, though this does not seem to be Feducci's fault, the club members prefer to fight each other to the permanent death.[28] In fact, he has permanently killed several Black Ribbon duelists himself. He is at least partially immortal (possibly due to the fact that he's from the Elder Continent, where everything is alive), as he is able to recover from mortal wounds most Londoners couldn't possibly recuperate from.[29] He's also quite good with the lance, as it is his favoured weapon.[30][31][32]
Despite his ties to the Presbyter, Feducci is a member of the Dilmun Club. His main role in the club is to be a liasion and informant in Elder Continent matters.[33][34][35] However, his ties to the Presbyter means he is excluded from the club’s deeper secrets.[36][37]
He was on the panel of judges for the Tournament of Body in the Coilheart Games.[38]
Feducci eyes are Peligin. Presumably this is because he hunted and ate many zee-beasts in his days on Hell's triremes.[39]
Mummy for Mayor!
"All Could Rise, Most Shan't. Equality in Death, Liberty in License."
Feducci was the first candidate to announce his participation in the 1895 election for Mayor of London, using the slogan "Fair Game, Fair Play." He promised a more egalitarian and meritocratic London, where any citizen could reach their full potential.[40] Over the course of the Election, his controversial dealings with Hell,[41] challenges in translating his principles into actionable policy,[42] and shady insider trading operations[43] all came to light. Despite this, Feducci was leading in the polls and was so confident in his victory that he moved into Blythenhale Manor before the current mayor even ended her term.[44]Feducci was ultimately right to be so self-assured, as he won with nearly half the vote.[45][46]
Upon taking office, Feducci transformed the mayoral mansion from Jenny's artists' commune[47] into a hub of gambling and dueling.[48] His administration was characterized by turmoil and corruption,[49] with the mayor struggling with the inefficiency of passing laws and confronted with protests led by the Dauntless Temperance Campaigner.[50] His illegal erasure of criminal records further eroded public trust,[51] and he was ultimately unable to make substantive change during his term. Feducci hold some regrets about this, and resents the fact that a later mayor, Virginia, made more of an impact than him.[52]
Feducci was ultimately followed by the Jovial Contrarian as mayor; Feducci did not attend the proceedings, and his last act was to explode the mayoral residence.[53] Feducci's chair was later re-purposed by the Contrarian for polical satire at the Fruits of the Zee Festival.[54]
Feducci courted the attention of the Captivating Princess. Possibly because of this he didn't appear at his term's Fruits of the Zee like his predecessor Sinning Jenny.[55] In the process of courting her, he gifted the Princess the Bees of Huz.[56] His eventual marriage proposal was accepted and thus commenced the first Royal Wedding since the Fall.[57]The couple hired Baseborn and Fowlingpiece to handle the legal proceedings.[58] Feducci's best man was a friend from the Elder Continent who owed him a life debt. The best man adopted a similarly tomb-colonist disguise.[59] Though Feducci affections for the Princess seems to be genuine,[60] it's implied the marriage partly to get London's support in invading the Elder Continent and install himself as Prester.[61]
