"Bloatfingers are so enraged by their own ugliness that they kill those who observe them. Consequently, they hide behind trees. The more they eat, the bigger they grow, and the harder it is to find hiding places. The one behind this tree must be colossal."[1]

Bloatfingers are creatures endemic to the Elder Continent, commonly seen in the wilds of the Bleeding Forest.[2][3] They occasionally appear elsewhere, such as in the hidden city of Arbor,[4] or even London where they are typically hunted and killed.[5] These beasts are serpentine with fanged mouths and eyes,[6][7] and may form large groups within the leaves of chertapple trees.[8]

Bloatfingers are unfortunately quite aware of their hideous appearances and often try to remain out of view. Their size is only bound by how much they eat, so as they grow more enormous, it becomes harder for them to find suitable hiding spots.[9][10] Anyone who glimpses a bloatfinger should consider themselves in trouble: bloatfingers lash out when seen,[11] attacking witnesses relentlessly with their mouths and corrosive slime[12] until the their flesh is chewed from their bones.[13] Despite these dangers, bloatfinger soup is apparently a delicacy in the city of Caution.[14]
