It is of some curiosity that the three sisters bear names which relate to light and both artemis and apollo.

Phoebe - Bright, applied as an epithet to apollo ("Phoebus Apollo"), and sometimes to Artemis also

Lucina - Light, applied to apollo in the form of Lyceus (though whether this refers directly to light, or to the town Lycea is debated), and is also the name of the goddess of childbirth in roman myth (equivalent, or at least similar to Eileithyia in greek, who was kept from Leto by Hera)

Cynthia - Derives from a mountain on Delos, where apollo and artemis were born, and is applied to artemis.

This lends credence to the idea that they were descended from the Oracles, who most often claimed patronage from apollo. However, given apollo's relation to the sun, could this imply a connection to the Judgements? And this brings up a deeper question: What the Hell is the Moon?
