The Cedar-Woods are an ancient forest[2] of burnt trees in the Hinterlands,[3] accessible from Jericho Locks. The woods were disowned by Hell,[4] as were its residents: exiled devils[5] wearing tattered uniforms. They patrol the woods in secret, and they have an agreement with Guild of Gondoliers to use the woods' river in exchange for providing information;[6] this deal was kept secret from London.[7]
