Railway Track
Thanks to its advanced and unusual materials, railway steel is particularly suited to the Neath, as well as to the complicated task of reaching Hell intact; it's primarily composed of Justificande coins and Bessemer steel. In addition to Surface steel's ductile strength and low surface roughness, these materials contain at least one unique impurity: martensite crystals, as identified by FF Gebrandt, which act as a compass of sorts, orienting themselves towards Hell.[1] Whether the impurity comes from the Justificande coins, the Bessemer steel, or both is unclear.
Stations
- Ealing Gardens, closest to London and home to Rubbery folk.
- Jericho Locks, the next closest, which serves as home for those who work the canals in the Upper River.
- The Magistracy of the Evenlode, a settlement atop First City ruins that is the outer bound of the reach of London's laws.
- Balmoral, the Empress's Scottish holding that has fallen with London into the Neath.
- Station VIII, a factory complex that extracts emotions in chemical form.
- Burrow-Infra-Mump, a lonely church next to Hell's figurative gates.
- Moulin, a small town next to a wasteland. It is said that all lost things eventually end up in Moulin, even things from across the Unterzee.
- The Hurlers, a desolate frozen wasteland marked with mysterious standing stones and a castle that isn't there.
- Marigold Station, a place of flowers and past crimes located right under the walls of Hell.
