How Did He Lose His Hand?

Some years ago, the Genial Magician made a deal with the Fingerkings. He was assigned to deliver a box to a young female contractor (probably Sophia) at the Department of Menace Eradication in Watchmaker's Hill, and the Fingerkings would tell him the secret to one of the illusionist Monsieur Pleat's tricks.[6] However, the Magician betrayed the snakes, revealing the sender’s identity to the recipient, who promptly disposed of the box. Evidently, the Fingerkings were not pleased and took away his hand as punishment.[7]
