The Cheery Man is the owner of the Medusa's Head, a tavern in Watchmaker's Hill. He leads one of London's criminal syndicates. He is ruthless even by the Fifth City's standards, but he commands great loyalty among his thieves and cutthroats.[1]

The Cheery Man was married once, and co-ruled Spite and the bordering areas with his wife. However, in the establishing of their criminal empire, the couple made enemies.[2] Enemies who would launch a surprise attack at Beatrice's, killing the Cherry Man's wife and unleashing in turn, a ruthless campaign of vengeance from the Cherry.[3] As per the wishes of his wife, the Cherry Man would bury his wife in a coffin filled with sunlight in the Tomb of Sunlight.[4]
