"Huge fish swim in the Persephone, their scales the colour of sunset or moon-rise. They have seven eyes and seven hearts that pump scarlet blood through their cream-white flesh."

The Persephone is a river in the Hinterlands owned by Hell, accessible from Jericho Locks. It is stocked with tribute from the Guild of Gondoliers, in the form of seven-eyed, seven-hearted fish with white flesh. Their scales are called Moonlight Scales which shine the color of "sunset and moonlight," and are a delicacy in Hell. Other offerings from the ages of past Fallen Cities also litter the river.
