"I the Deviless am a scribe and a Solicitor"
"I write for the Tower and for the greater Power of which the Tower is but a part"[2]
The Solicitor-Baroness is a deviless who works as a representative of the Creditor.
The Creditor's Agent
"Standing at the side of the room is a devil – no, a Baroness of Hell – in an old-fashioned robe. Her head is the iridescent black of a fly, her eyes hundred-faceted."[2]

As her title suggests, the Solicitor-Baroness is the Creditor's solicitor: someone who writes[3] and speaks on its behalf.[4] Together with the Hillchanger Tower, she enforces her client's will throughout its domain of the Hinterlands.[5]
The Baroness is also an aristocrat of Hell.[6] She appears more insectoid than the Devils who frequent London,[7] with chitinous skin,[8] extra arms and legs,[9] mandibles,[10] and multifaceted[11] golden eyes.[12] She first entered the Creditor's service when Hell needed a route to the Unterzee; they struck a deal with the Creditor to serve as its legal counsel, and the Baroness fulfilled this duty throughout many of her lives.[13]
As the Creditor's agent, she sincerely acts in its best interest[14] and provides the best representation she can.[15] In fact, she seems to admire it,[16] even considering it a friend.[17] On a personal level, she is a strong advocate for change and transformation.[18][19]

"The Creditor is older than most of our minds can compass, but it is still capable of change. But the Bazaar... I would not put my child in his service. I would not chain anyone to his decay. And Mr Spices has neither will nor capacity to offer our child anything else."[20]

The Solicitor-Baroness was once a paramour of Mr Spices.[21] During their relationship, she assumed a bat-like appearance similar to that of a Curator;[22] as a result, Spices became pregnant with their child.[23]
As of now, the Baroness is no longer in contact with Spices.[24] She does not wish to dictate her child's direction in life; however, she also does not want it under the employ of the Echo Bazaar, as she considers it stagnant and crumbling,[25] antithetical to her philosophy of continual change.[26]
