"The Clerk's notes suggest that Singh and Jenkins began their expedition at a great obelisk in the Reach. It is also said that they went off the maps, into the sunless wastes where the winds wait."[1]
The Singh-Jenkins Expedition took place in the Sunless Skies timeline after London departed the Neath for the High Wilderness. Its crew charted much of the High Wilderness as we know it, but its primary motive was to search for Correspondence sigils around space and learn more about the language.[2] Along the way, they established the first transit relays,[2] called Singh-Jenkins relays in their honor, to allow locomotives to jump to different parts of space.[3]
The expedition found their first sigil at the obelisk in the Reach[4] near which Polmear & Plenty's Inconceivable Circus now stands.[5] They then visited Lustrum, where they found a sigil on its Mother of Mountains; they lost two of their crew and plenty of supplies on the grueling climb.[6][7] After this, they built a relay to travel from the Reach to Eleutheria,[8] where another crew member departed the expedition to become a hermit,[9][10] and one of the expedition leaders made a bargain with the mysterious Measurers.[11] They were eventually lost[2] somewhere off the maps, in the Space Between Stars.[12][13]
Professor Singh's daughter, the Insistent Surveyor, still works in New London[14] and aims to continue her father's work.[15][16]
