"There are some things we were not meant to know, they say. But you wouldn't be down here if you took that seriously."

Beyond this point lie spoilers for Fallen London, Sunless Sea, Sunless Skies, or Mask of the Rose. This may include midgame or minor Fate-locked content. Proceed with caution.

"Afterward, Hell, having no interest in maintaining a military garrison, forged a highly local law to ensure that the waterwheel could be used by no one. Now it burns constantly."[1]

The Eversmoulder is a burning water wheel in the Hinterlands,[2] accessible from Jericho Locks.[3] It was once used by Hell to power a base that watched over the canals, but during the Campaign of '68 it was captured by London. After the war, Hell abandoned the area and used an infernal law to leave the wheel eternally burning, even though water still runs through it.[4]

Mysteriously, graffiti and writings can be found here that hint at the workings of the Great Game.[5][6]
