"Once, this simple fishing village was part of the London suburbs, before London fell and the waters rushed in. Smoke spirals from cottage chimneys. A lonely hill rises behind town."[1] "Mutton Island houses a small, vibrant fishing community. But you can't buy a piece of fish on the island for love nor money. Where does it all go?"

Mutton Island is a small island in the Southern Archipelago, home to a fishing hamlet named Quaker's Haven. With a single jetty and one pub to the island's name, calling it a village is a bit generous.[2][3] It's famed for its Rubbery Lumps, which get their rich taste thanks to the well water on the island.[3][4]

The Fruits of the Zee Festival is held here every August, and Londoners can take a ferry to the island for a low price at this time of year.[5]

Miriam Plenty, of Mrs Plenty's Carnival in London, was raised here, and used to be the landlady of the inn.[6]

The Well[edit]

"There are some things we were not meant to know, they say. But you wouldn't be down here if you took that seriously."

The Drowned Man is connected to the well on the island, and is able to influence dreams from it. The islanders claim that he "is not a god", yet periodically conduct sacrifices to him.[3][7][8]
