The governor of Port Carnelian is typically an eminent Londoner from the [[Foreign Office]], residing in a mansion known as Heartscross House. They must handle a balancing act between keeping Her Majesty's subjects, the native tigers, and [[The Khanate|Khaganians]] happy.

The colony boasts a market known as the Blue Bazaar. (This seems to be 'bazaar' in the generic sense; it does not have a known connection with the [[Echo Bazaar]].)

== Historical and Cultural Inspirations ==
Port Carnelian was likely inspired by colonial-era Singapore. The British trading port was founded by Sir Stamford Raffles in 1819, and would go on to become a part of the British Straits Settlements.

Settlers in forested regions of 19th century Singapore were menaced by tiger attacks, with tigers claiming a substantial amount of lives during this time period, before the intensive hunting of tigers caused the tiger population of Singapore to be wiped out entirely.
