The Edict of Towers
"The Edict borders the southern flank of Hell, where once flat plains rolled away the white walls. Here, Hell dug deep and where was once was nothing, Hell installed a myriad of mirrors. To navigate, one requires the ability to see both what is and what could be; to reject the was never."[1]
The Edict of Towers is a fortification of Hell located near Marigold Station.[2] It is a massive labyrinth of mirrors that blur the line between Is and Is-Not; in fact, less than one fifth of the area can be considered "real."[3][4] From beyond the mirrors, the vistas of Parabola are visible.[5]
While it is now abandoned,[6] the Edict was built to defend Hell's southernmost flank,[7][8] back when Hell still resided in Parabola.[9] It is littered with the detritus of past invasions, long predating the Campaign of '68.[10] The mirrors here are extremely disorienting to navigate,[11] their traps and treacheries designed through accords with the Fingerkings.[12] At the heart of the Edict is its original mirror: a massive, shattered piece of glass, held in place by thorned flowers and missing several of its shards.[13]
