"The Eater of Names has long plundered unwise strangers in the name of Death and the Great Shell."[1]
The Eater of Names is a formidably-armed priest-ship that patrols the waters near the Chelonate.[2] Drawn by enormous worms[2] and manned by seventy-seven Chelonite zealots,[3][4] the Eater plunders endlessly in the name of the Great Shell and Death.[5] For each Eater that is destroyed, a new one will inevitably rise again.[6]
The Eater of Names' figurehead is made of gant, apparently sourced near the Gant Pole.[7] According to Chelonite tradition, one may not use a name if they reside too close to the Gant Pole; this detail may provide context for the Eater's purpose.[8]
