Plated Seals are heavily armored, serpentine creatures that grow to around fifteen feet long. These creatures lurk in the iciest, most turbulent waters of the Unterzee, and they're capable of leaping great heights when "investigating" nearby ships.[2][3] They are a wonderful combination of friendly, playful, and intensely bloodthirsty.[4]
↑Thump! SCRRRRRR..., Fallen London"Something is investigating your ship. Something is fifteen feet long and armoured like a battleship. A plated seal! Savage predator of the icy water!"
↑Capture the plated seal, Fallen London"These things can leap. More to the point, they can leap over the rail, where you have men with nets, clubs and a lifeboat as an improvised cage."
↑Plated Seal, Fallen London"Playful. Heavily Armoured. Cheerful. Psychotic." [Editor's note: "Psychotic" is a really bad choice of words here, so I'm going with what the author probably meant here instead. Psychosis denotes the experience of delusions, hallucinations, and an inability to distinguish reality and fiction. but has colloquially come to be used as a synonym for "murderous," which is a *fantastic* way to contribute to stigma against mental health conditions.]
