"A leaf-shaped fragment of flint, banded strikingly with black and white, and sharp as the division between midnight and morning. (It's uglier than you might have expected.)"[1]

The Knapt is a leaf-shaped fragment of banded flint that has been made into a knife.[2] This relic is in the possession of the Order Vespertine,[3] though its exact whereabouts remain known only to a select few.[4] Forged by the Queen of Skite,[5] the knife is also the key to a ritual that grants a fragment of its strength to worthy individuals.[6]

  4. Flint, Fallen London "It's called the Knapt. A weapon of striped flint. Very old, very potent. (And, in my estimation, rather gaudy.) The Order has it somewhere in their stronghold – the Dish & Spoon, in Spite. Go there. Bring it here. Don't get stabbed."
  5. Flint, Fallen London "In ages past, the Queen of Skite fell in love with the King of Statues. So she took a hammer and struck him seven times. From the first strike, she made an axe. The second, a sword. From the third, a knife-of-power known as the Knapt. The fourth strike, a stylus. The fifth strike produced an unforgeable seal. The sixth strike only produced a needle. And from the seventh, nothing."
  6. Flint, Fallen London "Yes, that is the Knapt, they say. Yes, they agree, it was struck from the rocks by the Prison of Flint, in the Bleeding Forest. Yes, they will teach you the signs to find the way. Only share a little of the Knapt's strength with them. At their direction, you lave the Knapt with the waters of the pure and pulsing springs, and shake the drops on to their skins. They rise as if filled with strength. Perhaps you are imagining it, but you feel stronger when the drops splash your own skin."
