Auroral Megalops are large crustaceans with glowing golden bodies that roam the Unterzee. They are juveniles of an unspecified deep-zee crab and possess blue blood; uniquely for their species, they also have large, non-vestigial eyes.[3][4] Their meat is edible but highly perishable and difficult to preserve.[5]
Auroral Megalops were driven from their southern spawning grounds by "peculiar radiations,"[6] and their adult carcasses appear near the Grand Geode.[7] This implies these specimens were somehow transfigured by the Dawn Machine.[8]
