Neither are extremely mysterious creatures that roam the depths of the Unterzee. Upon dying, their bodies liquefy into murk,[1] and any divers who approach are consumed by the darkness and instantly killed, leaving nothing behind.[2] Shining a light upon a Neither's death-shadow reveals strange visions which vanish as soon as one looks away: unfamiliar skies, and a jungle populated by "hostile birds" and "many-fingered creatures."[3][4]
