Before he lost his hand, he made a deal with the Fingerkings. He would deliver a box to someone at the Department for Menace Eradication, and they would tell him the secret to one of Monsieur Pleat's tricks. He betrayed them, and told the contracter who the box was from. The Fingerkings were not happy with him.
