Cornelius is a member of The Tracklayer's Union and the leader of the Prehistoricists movement.

Philosopher of the Chain

Gerard[1] Cornelius is a scholar who knows about the Chain and The Correspondence.[2][3] He is the creator of the Prehistoricist ideology.[4]

He was the co-leader of the Tracklayer's Union with Furnace Ancona during the building of Moloch Line.[5] The construction of the line went well until the workers reached the Hurlers.[6] A deviless sought to sabotage Cornelius,[7] teasing him about not being able to read an inscription written in the Discordance, and smuggled him a dictionary. When Cornelius read the inscription, it wounded him grievously enough to send him to the Slow Boat,[3] and permanently covered his face with many mouths who all express his views.[8]

He spent six months in The Tomb-Colonies.[9][10] He later came back and started to preach his philosophy in the Tracklayer's union headquarters of The Magistracy of the Evenlode,[11] and plan his next move...[12]
