April of the Calendar Council is a weapons engineer and revolutionary leader.[1] Known to the public as munitions expert Emelia Hathersage, she is now presumed dead after an explosion. She survived, of course, but has lost her hearing and now prefers to communicate through writing.[2] She is an skilled engineer and Red Scientist,[1] and is devoted to her fearless opposition of the Masters.[3]

April has a close relationship with Sinning Jenny,[4][5] and they share a goal of slaying the Vake.[6] She is also a friend of Furnace Ancona[7][8] and knows August well.[9][10]
