"I shall be first among equals," he roars. "Nae gods, nae bishops. This is a church 'o th' free!"

September is a passionate anarchist and anti-monarchist[1] who leads a faction of Scottish revolutionaries.[2] WIth the Railway's help, he can become the Castellan of Balmoral.[3]

September is one of the younger and less influential members of the Calendar Council.[4] He has a close relationship[5] with August[6] and holds Sinning Jenny in high regard.[7] He may fall in love[8] with the Wandering Gondolier.[9]

One of September's goals is to deciper the cryptic messages of Mr Pages.[10] September supports January's advocacy for the Liberation of Night[11] but admits privately to being "a little afeared o' th' dark."[12]

In the alternate timeline of the Upstairs, September was killed by the forces of the Empress. The surviving revolutionaries rallied in the name of Lost September, forcing the Empress out of London and beseiging her last stronghold: Balmoral.[13]
