UNDER CONSTRUCTION

The Great Chain (also known as the Great Chain of Being, Great Chain of Existence[1] or the Chain) refer to the natural hierarchy of all living things.[2] It is a tool made by the Judgments[3] to ensure that the universe behave according to their design.

All Living Things Are Joined in the Great Chain

Every species occupy a place in the Chain,[4] and every place has a purpose. All creature with a place in the hierarchy are made with the desire to fulfil this purpose,[5] and this desire is created by a part of their body.[6] To modify one’s body and change their purpose, and therefor their place, is not only forbidden by the Judgment,[7] but made difficult where their laws apply. However, in the place their laws can’t reach, these changes are made possibles.[8] The art of breaking the Chain, especially in these places, is called The Red Science. [4]

Real Life

The Great Chain of being is a real historical concept in Christianity where every beings was ranked, with God at the top, followed by differents type of angels, humans, animals, vegetals and minerals.[9] Some claimed to have identified three component of this idea: the principle of Plenitude (the Chain is the expression of God's power), of Continuty (there are no gaps in the chain) and of Gradation. (all being are ordered from the highest to the lowest)[10]
