"Coppery lights away in the fog: the lamps of Achlys, a shanty-market for spices and vices."
"You cross the Achlean marshes. Don't trust the mists. They reveal things that are not there, and conceal things that are."[1]
Near the broken Reach-Eleutheria transit relay lies Achlys, a haven for merchants of tea and spices.
Care for Some Tea?
Achlys's shanty-markets are built on the edge of the Achlean Marshes, which produce a poisonous, hallucinogenic mist.[2]
The most famous tea blend available here is the priceless Midnight's Favour, made in a nearby ancient monastery by masked monks. What's in the blend? You won't get a straight answer; most traders will simply remark that they are not worthy of Midnight's Favour.[3]
Amberley Murgatroyd
Amberley Murgatroyd, daughter of Old London's Murgatroyd family, has established a shop here - Murgatroyd's Taste of Albion.[4] Unfortunately, her tea pales in popularity to other blends, especially to the likes of Midnight's Favour. She regularly attempts to attack the monastery to wipe out her competition, but is always stopped by the Ringbreaker urchins (also a holdover from Old London), who act as a police force of sorts in Achlys.[5][6][7]

Deep within the ancient monastery lies the source of the port's most famous tea: a sentient plant fittingly named Midnight.[8] Long ago, Midnight stretched across the stars and held influence over countless worlds,[9][10] in part due to its ability to absorb and grow from the pain and regrets of others.[11] These days, Midnight is a supporter of the Liberation of Night; after all, what are the Judgements if not the greatest sources of pain and regrets in the universe?[12] Midnight's Favour is made from its leaves, and induces empathy toward pain - helping those who drink it endure the many hardships of the world.[13][14]
