"On the shoulder of a brimstone sea, the Smoking Shore is lambent with fog and roiling plumes of smoke. To step inside it is to feel like one is within the breath of a dragon.
"Great battles have been fought here and will be so again. The cats guard it fiercely from the Fingerkings and their allies, long rumoured to exist beyond the sea."[1]
The Smoking Shore is the coastline of the Parabolan Smoking Sea.[2] often contested between the warring factions of Parabola.[3] Surrounded by volcanic terrain[4][5] and tidal pools of viric,[6] this sea sits near the heart of Parabola.[7] The Satraps, the legendary allies of the Fingerkings, are said to exist beyond the Smoking Sea.[1][8]
The Shore was the site of an ancient battle between the cats and the Fingerkings,[9] A Sleeping King dwells here still;[10] the Court of Cats possesses a spear filled with its venom.[11]
There is a temple to the King of Cats on the Smoking Shore.[12] A gardener from the Fourth City, called the Violet Horticulturist, resides in a quiet enclave nearby.[13] Devils also visit the area to deposit offerings.[14]
