'''The Uttershroom''' is a giant mushroom in the Unterzee, specifically in the region of Myceligaea.
There is little animal life here, though fungi thrive. The few people who live here are addicted to [[Prisoner's Honey|prisoner's honey]] and are too scared of zee-monsters to leave. These inhabitants are related to the people of [[The Chelonate|the Chelonate]], who are famed monster hunters; these poor souls didn't want to hunt like their brethren, so they left to live here.
The Uttershroom is very likely the original home of the blemmigans. Whether it is or not, they do live here.

"The last thing you'd expect about a savage and eyeless anthropophagous mushroom is this: that those tendrils enable wonderful penmanship. The Blemmigan Secretary will be delighted to take dictation."[1]

Blemmigans are sentient mushrooms with a taste for flesh; they thrive in Bugsby's Marshes and other swampy locations around the Neath.

Walking Mushrooms[edit]

Blemmigans are the spores of the Uttershroom, located in Myceligaea, far across the Unterzee. They're creatures of letters, and blossom when they can exercise their liking for the written word. Fallen Londoners may encounter Blemmigan Pedants or even, with exceptional luck, find a blemmigan that is actually willing to be one's secretary. When voyaging around the Zee, one may find a blemmigan colony on the shores of an island.

During theFeast of the Exceptional Rose 1893, a collection of poems took literary circles – and the Ministry of Public Decency – by storm and gave birth to a new school. The Mycologene School is wholly dedicated to maintaining the Elusive Poet's legacy by emulating their Illicit Volumes of Unexpectedly Racy Fungal-Themed Poetry.
